Cruise the River - Danube

This is truly a once in a lifetime trip! I just did it over Christmas and loved, loved, loved it! We fly you to Prague to start this great tour, you spend 3 nights in Prague, a fantastic city, you then start your cruise in Passau and cruise to Melk, Vienna and Budapest! To savour the secrets of Europe’s cities and seek out their history, nothing beats a river cruise, nothing beats the Danube. Europe’s second longest river, meandering 2,850 km. across the continent from its source in Germany’s Black Forest Mountains to the Black Sea, visits nine countries - Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine and a full Danube cruise may take you to most or all of them.

It’s an experience totally unlike an ocean cruise. Sleek and slim, the ships are built to fit the river’s requirements — small ports, low, ancient bridges, and sometimes shallow water. Yet passengers are often amazed at the level of luxury the ships offer - compact but well appointed staterooms, nightly entertainment and good food. Buffets at breakfast and lunch and full table service at dinner provide excellent and copious meals with myriad choices for picky eaters or people on special diets. But BEWARE! Your diet may be severely tested by the variety of desserts and between-meal treats!

About Your Ports of Call:
Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida
Sailing from (and back) Fort Lauderdale, once the epicenter of Spring Break, today it is a year-round destination where culture and cuisine are in ample supply. Beautiful beaches, sunshine, coastline, nightclubs and superb restaurants await you in this Gold Coast enclave. More restaurants and shopping on Las Olas Boulevard or Himmarshee in downtown Ft. Lauderdale are a must.

Princess Cays, Bahamas
The tiny island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas is home to the private beach party hosted exclusively for Princess guests. A full day of fun in the sun offers something for every member of the family from snorkeling, kayaking, sailing and floating to lingering over drinks and a delicious barbecue. Princess Cruises' private beach serves up a good time, including a coral reef with schools of tropical fish, a special area dedicated to children's activities, water sports equipment, relaxing music, bar facilities, and lunch!

Ocho Rios, Jamaica
This bustling town is backed against a wash of green hills and is home to one of the most celebrated attractions in the Caribbean -- Dunn's River Falls. Most passengers also choose to visit the tropical plantations, take a coastal yacht cruise or drift down the Martha Brae river on a bamboo raft.

Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands
This charming, British-influenced island boasts crystal-clear water and white-sand crescent beaches. Take a submarine ride and marvel at colorful coral landscapes teeming with marine life. Or, you may prefer to see the view through a glass-bottom boat. Snorkeling also is quite popular here, and sun-worshippers will be drawn to lovely Seven Mile Beach.

Cozumel, Mexico
Just off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula sits the island of Cozumel, draped in lush, tropical vegetation. The reefs that fringe the island beckon divers and snorkelers. The most popular shore excursions include snorkeling on famous Palancar Reef or a beginner's dive at Paraiso Reef. Spoil Yourself on Carnivals' Dream

How You ASK?  Among many amazing features, she will boast more outdoor deck space, more stateroom categories, the largest spa they've ever built, Carnival Waterworks and a new dining and entertainment complex called The Piazza.

The new Carnival Dream has one of the biggest and most luxurious spas at sea, appropriately called Cloud 9, which is roughly where you’ll be after a few hours there. There are tempting treatments, a relaxing thermal suite with heated mosaic beds, and an adults-only Serenity area to escape the kids. Carnival Dream made her maiden voyage in September 2009. She’s a visionary cruise ship that’s literally in a class of her own! Larger and longer than any other vessel in the Carnival Cruises' fleet, and all that extra space has been filled with the very latest!

What’s it like?
We’re talking a big ship, with capacity for over 3,600 passengers and lots to do if you can come down off Cloud 9. How about a water park with a two-lane racing slide? Or catching a film on the big screen by the swimming pool? How about the new dining and entertainment complex called The Piazza and Carnival Waterworks? Or an adrenalin-filled water slide and splash park situated on her top deck.

The biggest change is Ocean Plaza, an indoor/outdoor cafe and live music venue and the Lanai, an outdoor area featuring a wrap-around promenade and four cantilevered whirlpools suspended over the ship’s side. There’s also a “FunHub” area, which Carnival dubs the first social network area at sea. Guests can use one of 36 onboard computers to post or look for like-minded guests wanting to play backgammon, cards, or simply get together over Pina Coladas.  The Piazza is a new dining and entertainment complex, offering a wide choice of restaurants, live music venues, dance floor with access to the outside deck.

This fabulous cruise ship also features a full wrap-around promenade and giant poolside LCD screen, showing movies, sport, cartoons and more. Plus there’s a Serenity, adult-only retreat, where you can relax and recharge before your next dose of full-on Fun Ship cruising.

Lido Deck Buffet Onboard the Dream

You (and if you take the kids) can play all day at Carnival Waterworks – an aqua park that takes up almost one whole deck and includes a hair-raising waterslide four decks high! When you need some time out, the kids can splash around safely with friends while you relax in one of four ocean view Jacuzzis that extend over the beam of your cruise ship.

For the ultimate in relaxation, let the kids join in the supervised activities at the Camp Carnival Kids’ Club while you pay a visit to the Cloud 9 Spa. The biggest Carnival wellness centre afloat, it features a whole host of exotic spa treatments to help you relax and unwind.

Cloud 9 Spa                                          Crimson Lounge

Of course, Carnival Dream still features all the entertainment and comforts you’d associate with a Carnival cruise – including great bars and restaurants, fun and games organized by the crew, quiet getaways such as the Library and Card Room and much, much more.

Save some energy for the evenings on Carnival Dream because they’re bound to be one big party! Whatever turns you on you’ll find it here, including: Vegas style shows, Live music in many of the bars, a full Cinema showing current films, Dancing till Dawn, and an ever popular Casino. Public areas are spacious and include Atrium bars that spill out into other main areas, a huge internet café with 29 work stations, as well as the dazzling Skywalker Disco and observation lounge. For evening fun, passengers can catch a live Broadway-style show at the Princess Theater, play blackjack at the Asian-themed Grand Casino, or dance till dawn at Club Fusion. Other activities include dance classes, cooking demonstrations and onboard movies. There are five pools, a high-tech fitness center with a wide range of machines and workout classes, as well as relaxing facials and spa treatments at the Lotus Spa.
